The flash umbrella can be used to reflect soft light (direct exposure), but it is also possible to flash through the material, giving it a softbox effect (indirect lighting). In relation to a softbox you have slightly more light loss.

Due to the large size of the flash umbrella, the light is distributed in an ideal way. Due to the large size we recommend a sturdy tripod.
